engineers [ lov3menot ]	10:39a	Internship I had a first interview for this internship November 4th. On Decemeber 1st they called me back to schedule a 2nd interview. As my luck would have it, my voicemail wasn't set up for some reason... Luckily I did a follow up email and was informed of the messages. That same day, December 11th, I called them back and scheduled the 2nd interview for eariler this week. I think it went well. I know I connected with 3 of the 4 people I conversed with. The 1st for sure because it was under his recommendation that I get a second interview. I then connected with the vice president of processes, and the environmental manager. I'm a bit worried about the overseer of the engineering aspect because I am more knowledgeable and generally interested in the research and process efficiency, and he talked a lot about cost efficiency. I'll know by the end of the second week in January if I got the internship... The biggest thing against me is my 2.67 cumm. GPA. I need to have a better school work ethic. Last semester I got a 3.00, but due to several circumstances I didn't fair to well in non-engineering classes before that. I need to get it into my head that GPA counts! Please let me get this internship though. I really do want to be a presence in the engineering and environmental technology world - not just an observer. Current Mood: hopeful (Comment on this)

engineers [ spacefem ]	7:45a	how'd you choose your discipline? I don't know if we've talked about this or not, I can't find it in the tags. A girl I know is starting out in engineering and asked how I chose electrical. I have to admit I think the discipline question is a tricky one, I sort of flipped a coin on it. I lucked out because I love computers and there's a lot of electrical-computer crossover. So since my answer stinks I'm looking to get her more opinions. Mayoral Special Election is TOMORROW, December 8TH! http://blog.al.com/birmingham-elections/2009/12/birmingham_mayors_race_a_list.html ^ The Birmingham News's compiled candidate profiles. There's usually a voter's guide in the printed paper, but I didn't see it in today's copy? (Though since I was rifling through the copy at work, its possible there was one and someone else took it.) I, um, actually just realized this past weekend that the vote is Tuesday, so I thought I'd post in case anyone else was just as far out of the loop as I tend to be. :P (Of course, my "not being in the loop" may be directly correlated to my habit of "not watching TV" so if everyone else has been inundated already, I apologize for the duplication.
